A 15,000-square-foot California Skateparks concrete street plaza on the RFK Campus modeled after Freedom Plaza and Pennsylvania Avenue, prohibiting bikes and scooters so older skaters can practice flatground, manual pads, and ledges without cross-traffic.

Set near Parking Lot 3 and the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station along the Anacostia River, the Skate Park at RFK Campus (originally built for the 2011 Maloof Money Cup) spans 15,000 square feet of smooth poured concrete managed by Events DC. Designed by pro skater Geoff Rowley and California Skateparks as a tribute to classic District street spots—including replicas of the Freedom Plaza ledges, Pennsylvania Avenue granite steps, and the Golden Rail—the plaza is particularly welcoming for older skaters rebuilding street fundamentals because Events DC rules strictly prohibit bicycles, scooters, and motorized devices, restricting the slab to skateboards, inline skates, and roller skates.

Returning riders can warm up on the wide, open flatground approaches, low manual pads, and mellow bank ramps around the outer plaza before testing the multi-stair hubbas, rails, or the perimeter quarter-pipe and vert wall. Keep a few strict Events DC rules in mind before visiting: commercially manufactured helmets, elbow pads, and kneepads are required at all times, skating alone is prohibited (at least two people must be present), and the unlit facility operates strictly from dawn to dusk and closes during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. You can also pair an east-side plaza session here with Shaw Skatepark in Northwest D.C.
