Riverside Skatepark

Terrain & Features
A 21,000-square-foot Spohn Ranch concrete skatepark in Cedar Rapids' Riverside Park, lit until 10pm and built with a dedicated flatground zone and beginner-friendly obstacles alongside street and transition lines.
Set on the west bank of the Cedar River inside historic Riverside Park, the rebuilt Riverside Skatepark spans 21,000 square feet of poured concrete designed and constructed by Spohn Ranch Skateparks. Replacing the city’s original 1999 steel-ramp course, the modern facility opens at 6:00am daily and features overhead floodlighting until 10:00pm across spring, summer, and fall, giving older skaters reliable early-morning and after-work windows.
During the city’s design workshops, local riders specifically asked Spohn Ranch to prioritize an open flatground area with beginner-friendly obstacles and generous spectator seating. Returning skaters easing back onto a board can start on the slappy curb, cantilevered manual pad, gentle radius wedge, low grind ledges, and mini half-pipe/quarter-pipe transitions before stepping up to the raked grind rails, euro gap, and stair set. Because the rebuild was funded as a flood-control relocation, the footprint focuses on street and transition obstacles rather than deep bowls or a pump track—if you want a dedicated concrete bowl in eastern Iowa, head northeast to Flora Park Skatepark in Dubuque, or pair a weekend drive west with Lauridsen Skatepark in Des Moines. Restrooms, a drinking fountain, and a reconstructed accessible parking lot sit right beside the slab.
