Penn Valley Skatepark, also known as Kansas City Skate Plaza, is a 17,000-square-foot concrete facility set in a scenic park. The layout serves both street and transition skaters, and importantly lacks any localized, intimidating vibe.
Older skaters will appreciate the shallow end of the bowl, widely recommended as an ideal spot to safely learn to drop in and practice transition basics. For those balancing skating with work, the park opens at 5am and remains brightly lit until midnight. It pairs excellently with a visit to the local core shop, Escapist Skateboarding.
