A massive 52,000-square-foot Team Pain concrete complex in Huntsville's John Hunt Park, open until 9pm daily and divided into six riding zones including a mellow-entry 300-foot snake run, street plaza, ditch C-run, and bowls.

Paying tribute to Huntsville’s pioneering 1978 skatepark of the same name created by pro skater Bill Underwood, the modern Get-A-Way Skatepark at John Hunt Park is a 52,000-square-foot poured-concrete complex designed and built by Team Pain Skate Parks. Open until 9:00pm seven days a week—with an early 8:00am opening on Saturdays and Sundays—the facility gives older skaters plenty of room to spread out during quiet weekend mornings or lit evening sessions after work.

Team Pain organized the vast footprint into six distinct riding areas so beginners and returning skaters never have to share tight quarters with high-speed bowl traffic. You can warm up on the wide street plaza (manual pads, benches, flat bars, ledges, and a China bank), roll into the ditch-style entrance of the “C-Run,” or cruise the top of the 300-foot snake run, which starts out mellow before dropping into 6-foot and 8-foot deep sections. When you are ready for heavier transition, the park also houses an intermediate clover bowl, a large competition pool/bowl with tile and pool coping, and a rare three-quarter pipe. Note that City of Huntsville rules strictly require helmets, closed-toe shoes, and shirts for all riders; the facility closes whenever the concrete is wet; and the park is shared with bikes, inline/quad skates, and non-foldable scooters (no motorized vehicles or portable obstacles allowed).
