David Armstrong Extreme Park

A 40,000-square-foot municipal concrete facility downtown near Waterfront Park, featuring a 24-foot full-pipe, multiple transition bowls, a wooden vert ramp, and wide street courses lit until 11:00 PM daily.

Centrally situated near Louisville’s Waterfront Park and Slugger Field, the David Armstrong Extreme Park provides 40,000 square feet of multi-discipline concrete terrain paired with an outdoor wooden vert ramp. Its 24-foot full-pipe serves as an iconic downtown landmark, but the surrounding layout offers abundant low-impact terrain that suits returning riders shaking off rust.

Older skaters will find the most comfortable footing in the expansive street plaza and the mid-depth transition bowls. The street course incorporates broad flatground runouts, gradual pyramid banks, and low manual pads that are separated from the steep drop-ins of the vert ramp and full pipe. This spatial buffer allows skaters to work on kickturns, rolling ollies, and board control without contending with high-velocity transition drop-ins.

The park is free, open seven days a week from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and fully floodlit after dusk. Early weekday mornings between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM offer the calmest window, with quiet river breezes and empty concrete before school groups and BMX riders arrive. Restroom facilities and on-site parking are available directly off Franklin Street.
