Terrain & Features
A floodlit 12,306-square-foot City of Lawrence concrete street and flow skatepark in Centennial Park open daily from 6am to 11:30pm (with lights until 10:45pm), paired with the standalone Corey Lawrence Memorial Vert Ramp.
Tucked into the rolling hills of Centennial Park between 6th and 9th Streets in central Lawrence, Centennial Skate Park is a 12,306-square-foot municipal facility operated by Lawrence Parks, Recreation and Culture. Originally opened in 1998 and expanded through concrete renovations in 2012 and 2021, the park is open daily from 6:00am to 11:30pm with overhead night lighting running until 10:45pm—giving older skaters along the I-70 corridor dependable dawn and late-evening windows outside university and after-school rush hours.
The course separates its main poured-concrete street and flow footprint from the adjacent Corey Lawrence Memorial Vert Ramp (a dedicated steel-framed vertical half-pipe surfaced with Gator Skins). Returning riders can warm up across the concrete plaza’s mellow banks, quarter-pipes, pyramids, funboxes, ledges, euro gap, and flow bowl without crossing paths with vertical ramp traffic. Note that the facility is unsupervised and shared with BMX riders and inline skaters, and the memorial vert ramp demands full protective pads and established transition skills. If you need fresh hardware, softer wheels, or a custom setup along the Kansas River corridor, pair your session with a trip east to Escapist Skateboarding in Kansas City or roll through Rolling Magic Skate Park in Lenexa.
