A community-run, not-for-profit concrete park under the Mancunian Way flyover, so it is skateable in Manchester rain. 1,400 square metres built by skateboarders with council backing, and the one UK park on this list with a dedicated Adults Night: every Wednesday, 7 to 9pm, sign up and pay on arrival.

The Wednesday Adults Night is the reason Projekts earns a spot here: two hours a week where the park is explicitly for grown-ups, which removes the single biggest obstacle for a lot of returning skaters — turning up to a park full of teenagers. There is also a Women’s and Girls’ night on Thursdays from 6 to 9pm, and the park runs coaching if you want structure rather than just an open session.

Being under the flyover, the surface stays dry when the rest of the city is not, and the exposed concrete gives the place its character. A café with a balcony overlooks the park for when your legs are done. The entrance is on Baring Street, just outside the city centre; parking around it has been disrupted by roadworks, so allow time or come by public transport.
