Tucked into Trenance Park on the southern edge of Newquay, Concrete Waves is widely regarded as one of the finest outdoor skate facilities in Europe. Masterminded by Maverick Skateparks, the 40,000-square-foot park was conceived to celebrate the UK’s rich surf-skate culture while providing professional-grade terrain across multiple disciplines.

What makes Concrete Waves accessible for older skaters is its deliberate four-zone layout. The park features a dedicated “Nursery Slope” beginner zone, which provides mellow banks, wide flatground, and low-impact roll-ins completely isolated from the imposing 3-metre competition bowl and tight retro pool. Returning skaters can rebuild board feel and balance on gentle transitions without the risk of high-velocity collisions from advanced transition riders.

Because Newquay is a popular seaside holiday destination, summer afternoons can see heavy traffic from visiting holidaymakers. Early mornings from dawn to 10:00 AM deliver pristine, quiet concrete with ocean air. Public parking is available throughout Trenance Valley, and seasonal council toilets are on site. Note that the park relies on natural daylight, so plan sessions before dusk.
