Perched on the scenic foreshore of Lake Ginninderra in north Canberra, Belconnen Skatepark—fondly known as “Belco”—is the undisputed centerpiece of the ACT skateboarding scene. While famous nationally for its historic 10-foot keyhole bowl and massive competition half-pipe, the facility’s extensive modern redevelopment created an accessible landscape for riders of all experience levels.

For older skaters, the primary draw is the expansive street plaza and open-plan snake run, positioned safely away from the vert ramps. Here, riders can warm up across broad flatground lanes, low-height manual pads, approachable flatbars, and mellow concrete transition banks without getting tangled in high-speed competition lines. Timed floodlights keep the park illuminated until 10pm every night, providing ample time for post-work sessions.

As with most major metropolitan hubs, weekday mornings between 7am and 10am offer calm, uncrowded conditions before youth sessions ramp up. Ample lakeside parking, public toilets, and dining options along Emu Bank make it an easy venue to visit for an unhurried morning roll.
